but i knew all along that Miss Universe was always Miss Ang-Moh-verse.
I mean, seriously, when was any asian ever shortlisted other than China for political reasons and India (North Indians, Never South) because of their ang-moh like features?

bias bias world.

well cant say that cos then again Miss Universe was created by Donald Trump who is American who is like the disillusioned world in general who is obbssessed with the western definition of beauty.

longer eyelashes, sharper noses, higher cheek bones, bigger eyes, fairer skin.. the list never ends.

magazines like cleo and seventeen and her world in singapore very much tend to feature and favour ang moh and ang moh looking models (eurasians).just look at their photospreads and magazine covers..its pretty shameful. crapshitfuckingidiots.(looksee the confused cast of lightyears)

magazine editors choose to put angmohs on covers and photospreads cos they sell better, and the crazy fact is that probably do.but continuing to do so only reinforces the 'western is better' image and concept many asians are already brainwashed with.
hollywood moviestars adorn our bedroom walls and we flip through page after page filled with gorgeous western women in glamorous poses.

it is no wonder why we have a twisted image of what beauty is.

how manyatimes have we looked at foreign images of dictated beauty in magazines and wonder why we look so different?

mainstream media tends to neglect anything non-western, and mainstream media drills into us the western way is the only way.

hollywood asian-american actors/actresses are often marginalised and are more often than not given sterotypical asian roles. jacky chan and bruce lee have only ever done kung-fu roles, and lets put it this way, lucy liu wouldnt be considered for the leading role in ally mcbeal.

people. learn to celebrate and embrace the beauty of your own race and culture instead of forever turing to the friggin ang-mohs.

im not racist and anti-western, but its just sad to see non-westerns forever idolising and
putting on a high pedestal their western counterparts. we have to learn to celebrate our differences and embrace our own beauty instead of attempting to imitate another race's.

otherwise its just another form of western colonialisation all over again.

Too much of one, and you'll long for the other. You need varity!<br>
Chances are, you've got both serious and fun friends - and they don't get along.

Im rushing to complete my socio essay and came upon some interesting points.

"The end of the 20th Century was a strange and highly public time for the type of social relationships that are normally considered private."

*A Virginia woman made national headlines for months after she slicef off her husband's penis after he had allegedly repeatedly raped her. That same year, 3 to 4 million women were battered by their husbands.

*On a Web site established in 1999, the eggs of fashion models were put up for auctionto those who want to create beautiful babies from a stanger's genetic material

We live in a weird world huh?

The normalization of Rape.
The concept of Rape has disturbingly become the norm. Nowadays we become almost immune to it and its pretty much a regular thing that takes place everyday. Its strangely become acceptable. Well, not acceptable in the sense that women go out and scream 'rape me' but acceptable in the sense that its common. 'She got raped'- aw really? so what?

Rape is not about sex at all, except in a narrow sense that sexual activity is involved:rape is a matter of power. Studies of rapists show that they are no more sexually frustrated than other men, and that they differ little from other men except in their hostilitty towards women.
Moreover, most rapes are planned and can hardly therefore be explained in terms of an outburst of sexual desire (Jureidini et al, 2003).

It is pure bullshit when rapists say they cannot control their primal male urges of sexual desire (Kam, 2004).

lol. yea im showing off my newly-gained referencing skills

oh and by the way, men who have to resort to rape in order to have sex with a woman are Losers. yea, with a capital L.

blardy fuckenarthens
dont know how to work those electronic periodicals/journals
have to use at least 3 for references to essays
why do they have to be so fussy
books mags newspaper cuttings enough la... still need dumb journal references

-break-

haha my mum was screeeching in laughter
went out to see what the commotion was
and ahhh she was watching dumb and dumber
which she obviously found very entertaining
cos some guy was drinking his own urine (eeek)
my dad's face actually turned red
and the only other show my dad really laughs at is mr bean
havent seen my parents laugh so hard in sucha long while
its actually quite an amusing sight (to see my parents laugh as opposed to a guy drinking urine)
